Indoor title to Berwick bowlers

BERWICK beat Noble Park last Tuesday night to win the Second Division Night Indoor Bowls Pennant.
The grand final victory capped off a very impressive season for the Berwick Bowling Club, which fielded three impressive teams in the Southern Group Metropolitan Finals.
The winning team of Doris Christoffersen, Chris Christoffersen, Nigel Cowdery and Carsten Jensen defeated Noble Park at Stringers, in Keysborough.
Berwick’s two other day finalists enjoyed close encounters but were narrowly defeated.
The Division 3 first teamers, Peter Hall, Flo Hall, Millie Murphy and Ethal Bray, lost to Blue Hills by only three shots in their clash at Hampton Park to finish the season runnersup.
The second day team, of Pat Zampatti, Marg Glassenbury, Brenda Bignold and Kay Rubins, fought hard at Keysborough in the elimination final but lost to Noble Park.
These were spectacular results for the Berwick teams, after playing indoor competition for only four seasons, and they will receive medals and a premiership flag on 1 September at a presentation night in Noble Park.
