INTERNATIONAL Women’s Day was celebrated by more than 25 local women with a morning walk last Thursday.
They enjoyed a 40minute walk along the Toomuc Valley Creek Track before sitting down to a healthy breakfast at YMCA Cardinia Life.
YMCA community and families coordinator Melanie Wursthorn said cereals, croissants and fruit were served.
“We had support from Pakenham Fruit, Plaza, Brumbys, Pakenham Safeway and Good Life Cafe for the breakfast catering,” she said.
An overhead presentation was screened which showcased influential Australian women and world firsts achieved by females.
March 8 is celebrated across the world as International Women’s Day and provides an opportunity to recognise the achievements of women and their contribution to society.
“Ladies who attended took the opportunity to watch the slide show, have a chat and enjoy breakfast after the walk,” Ms Wursthorn said.
She said the morning event went well and it was hoped to hold further special events in the future.
