Nyora bowlers on target

NYORA’S Bgrade team followed up an excellent batting innings of 226 the previous weekend with a great bowling effort to defeat Cardinia, 138, for its second win on Saturday.
Club stalwart Matt Hendry was the pick of the bowlers capturing 5/59 off 18 overs.
He gained valuable support from Andrew Collis, who picked up 2/10 off eight accurate overs. Paul Hendry and Kelvin Toogood also claimed a scalp each.
The first of the 20/20 games will be played against Catani on Sunday, 19 November, 2pm at Nyora.

D GRADE

Nyora 9/224 defeated Beaconsfield 10/171.
Jimmy Watts opened the batting with a solid 30.
Beaconsfield got a couple of quick wickets which brought Nick Fairbank to the crease and ended up making his first half century for any age group, finishing on 61.
Luke Tagliaferro stayed at the crease for an hour and held up his end well with a solid 18.
Craig Leith eventually made his way to the crease and after bowling 30 overs on the trot the previous week, pitched in with a great 54.
This was his first 50 for the club and Nyora up passed Beaconsfield’s score five down.

F GRADE

Nyora 118 defeated Upper Beaconsfield 105.
At Lang Lang on a slow outfield, Upper Beaconsfield batted first.
Lloyd Williams was the mainstay of the innings with a well compiled 33 dismissed late in the innings by Daryl Smith.
Peter Brennan showed early form and trying to take on Nathan Smith (back from a shoulder injury) and was caught short of his crease.
Barry Auhulwas the only batsman to try and hit out and made a valuable 27.
Nyora bowled well and its fielding was good.
Upper Beaconsfield was all out for 105.
Best of the Nyora bowlers was Lee Jose (3/12), Daryl Smith 1/4 and Daniel Kerrosine an excellent 0/5 off six overs.
Nyora’s batting started tentatively loosing early wickets before Ben White and Lee Cleary steadied the ship.
White was dismissed for 24. Billy Hayes and Cleary continued the chase before both were out for 25 and 11 respectively.
At 9/97 with eight runs to get Paul Guyer came in at number 11 and with new player Rhys Barton (never played cricket before) put 21 runs for the 10th wicket to take Nyora’s score to 118.
Upper Beaconsfield’s best bowlers were R. Edwards (3/9) and Lloyd Williams (2/18).
There were five lbws in Nyora’s innings.

UNDER 17

Nyora 148 defeated Officer 10/40 and 8/95.
It started well with Nyora doing the most with the new ball.
Luke Ferguson ripped through the top and middle order, finishing with 5/7 off five overs, including four bowled.
It was a day for the Lukes with Luke Tagliaferro chipping in with a handy 3/17 off six overs. That was the end of Officer’s first innings, being rolled for 40.
Nyora sent it back in looking for an outright, only to be foiled in the last over needing just one more wicket.
Luke Ferguson captured 2/15 and Michael Van Weel 2/14 off three.
Under13 players Jade Ellams, Jay Breen and Michael Van Weel were thanked for filling in.

UNDER 13

Nyora lost to Pakenham Gold 9/113.
Having made a defendable total last week, Nyora went into the game knowing that if they bowled and fielded well a win was achievable.
An excellent opening partnership by Pakenham saw the first wicket fall in the 20th over and 60 runs on the board.
At this point the game turned and wickets fell regularly until the last over.
The equation was one over, one wicket and five runs to get.
Pakenham got the winning run off the last ball.
Best of the bowlers were Jack Strybosch (2/9), Jarryd Cheyne in his first game (2/18) and one wicket each to Jay Breen, M. Lambert and Jack Ellams.
It was a good fielding efforts with 2 runouts.
