Tough day for Beaconsfield Tigers

IT was a tough day for Beaconsfield on Saturday, with only A grade securing a win while C and Egrades lost close games.

A GRADE

Defending 281 against Pakenham UpperToomuc, the Tigers captured the ten wickets required for 215.
Jason Dodd ended with 3/43 and was well supported by Ryan O’Connor who took 2/69.
Gus Patti and Jack Benbow both got their first Agrade wicket and Ray Cook also took a scalp.

B GRADE

Beaconsfield had a difficult day with the bat against the strong KilcundaBass side.
In the first innings Beaconsfield was dismissed for 72. Paul Dorbolo batted, well opening the innings and scoring 24. Steve Glen and Jarrod Williams provided support with 12 and 10 respectively.
Asked to bat again, Dorbolo again fared well with 42.
Prasanna Punchihewa reached 46 to fall just short of his first half century for the club.
Williams and Andrew Jones were the only other batsmen to reach double figures.

C GRADE

After reaching 112 last week, the Tigers had a tough task on Saturday. Nar Nar Goon had made 1/51 and reached 114, just sneaking ahead of the Beaconsfield total.
Good spells of bowling came from Dave Lennon with 3/23 off 19 overs and Jamie Ingham with 5/31 off 18.2 overs. Captain Mick McMahon took 2/4 off five overs.
Batting again, Beaconsfield ended at 5/57 with Andrew Mercier getting 23 and Ingham 10.

D GRADE

With 151 to defend from last Saturday, Beaconsfield saw Cardinia amass 336.
Against some quality batsmen Jayden Mack took 3/49, Chris Cherry 2/32 and Rob Young 2/10.

E GRADE

With the game evenly poised, the tight tussle continued to the end.
After being 3/59 at stumps last Saturday and chasing Beaconsfield’s 165, Emerald finally reached 169.
Dave Bruneau and John Martin were the best of the bowlers, each getting two wickets. In its second innings Beaconsfield ended at 5/76, Jordy Andrews made 21 and Dave Bruneau 26 not out.

F GRADE

With a very young side, Beaconsfield batted first and was all out for 78.
James Johnson made 25 and was well supported by fellow junior Nathan Mitchell with 10.
On his return to the club Tom Brown made 13.
Clyde reached the total after just 18 overs, but Brown bowled well to capture 3/4 and Reece Suttie captured the other wicket.
