$1 million is put on the right path

FOOTPATHS in towns around Cardinia Shire will be upgraded in a $1 million project that the council hopes will make uneven and cracked pavements a thing of the past.
Over the next six months, footpaths in almost 30 locations will be constructed or upgraded.
“This is the largest amount allocated to footpaths in recent years and council is determined to improve the quality of all assets and extend the network to meet the demands of the growing population,” said council general manager of assets and services Mike Ellis.
“The footpath program will be spread across the shire, benefiting residents in all wards.
“Council is undertaking this program to help reduce hazards for all footpath users and to improve the overall amenity, creating linkages where none have existed and improving access to new and existing buildings.”
Footpath works will be carried out at:
Pakenham – Princes Highway service road, the new emergency services complex, Gardenia Street, Pakenham Road, Ahern Road, James Street and Murphy Road.
Beaconsfield – Old Princes Highway.
Upper Beaconsfield – Salisbury Road, St Georges Road.
Emerald – Kings Road, BeaconsfieldEmerald Road.
Gembrook – BelgraveGembrook Road, Gembrook skate park.
Tynong – Tynong Road.
Lang Lang – James, Station, Whitstable, Oldbury streets.
Garfield – Campbell, Ritchie, Beswick streets.
Bunyip – Princess Street, Nash Road.
Cardinia – Ballarto Road.
Kooweerup – Ti Tree Lane, John Street.
Footpath works will be carried out to link existing developments to the footpath network, create access to new buildings, link existing footpaths and improve access to shops and facilities for all users but especially people using wheelchairs, motorised vehicles, strollers and trolleys.
