Tooradin outshoots defiant Dingley

IN A grade Tooradin and Dingley shooters were dominant in their goal rings, making life difficult for defenders at both ends of the court.
Keren Van Der Heyden took on much of the goaling responsibility for Tooradin with Sharna Wadeson playing more of a support role to her teammate in the ring.
Sara Drain was impressive in the midcourt, managing to find the gap with excellent passing to the goalers from around the ring. In the second term Tenneale Wells managed several deflections on the wing and played a key support role to Rachel Splatt, who was beginning to get the better of her opponent, who had not missed in the first term.
With scores level at the main break Shona Wells came back, displaying tidy defensive pressure through the midcourt. Kate Lynch remained consistently strong in the goal ring. The team struggled however to create the turnovers it was renowned for and tried to be too flashy when the ball was in attack, finishing the term two goals down.
The final term did not start well for top side Tooradin, which was six goals down at one point.
A pumpedup Van Der Heyden helped to lift the side and take the ascendancy.
In a finale reminiscent of finals the brilliance of Michelle Barnes in the last line of defence all but dried up goaling opportunities for Dingley.
The turnovers created with the class of Stacey McConnell and Kate Lynch through the midcourt was rewarded by the cool head of Sharna Wadeson in the goal ring.
With a neversaydie attitude the team brought together a string of goals to come out the eventual winners.
Scores: Tooradin 57 d Dingley 51.
Awards: Rimfire Glass Kate Lynch, Coach’s Sharna Wadeson, most damaging Rachel Splatt.
