Garbage collection ‘a mess’

BERWICK resident Denis Briggs said he’s had enough with the council garbage collection service in his street.
Mr Briggs photographed the aftermath of the garbage collection in his street at 8am on Monday, 12 March.
He said bins were left scattered everywhere with several presenting a danger to motorists and pedestrians.
“Also one bin was damaged by the truck,” he said. “This is a regular occurrence.”
Mr Briggs said he took a drive around the area and could see a similar problem in other streets.
“I’ve watched other contractors in a neighbouring municipality and the driver places the bins back where they were,” he said.
“The problem in Casey is that the truck takes off before the bin is replaced correctly.
“Sometimes we have to go next door to collect our bin.
“Last Monday it was probably as bad as it can get, so I photographed the mess.”
Casey director of engineering services David Richardson said he had seen the photographs and instructed the company’s supervisor to investigate quality control of the service.
