VICTORIAN football teams may be a rarity in September but there is plenty of support emanating from Kooweerup for the Sydney Swans in the AFL Grand Final.
The Black and Lansdown families are diehard Bloods fans and three of them have secured tickets for that one day in September this Saturday.
Trevor and his wife, Casey Black, will head to the MCG full of enthusiasm and hope that their team can go backtoback and win the premiership for the second time in as many years.
They will be joined by Trevor’s sister Kylie Lansdown who is also as passionate as anyone when it comes to the Swans.
The enthusiasm of Trevor and Kylie cannot be questioned and was never more evident when they packed the car last week to drive to Sydney to support the Swans in the preliminary final against Fremantle.
“I try to go to at least one to two interstate games each season,” Trevor said.
The trio plan to travel to the ‘G early on Saturday and soak up the special atmosphere that comes only once a year with Grand Final day in Melbourne.
Trevor believes the Swans will get up in a close one and is hoping Adam Goodes wins the medal quinella by taking out the Norm Smith in the same week he won the Brownlow.
“We’re hoping to go over to Punt Road if they win and congratulate them,” he said.
While both Trevor and Kylie will have to leave their Swan loving children at home on Saturday, the youngsters will be watching the game at home, they will be alongside the family cat named in honour of Brett Kirk.
“My young daughter called our cat Kirky,” Trevor said.
