ROBERT Bumbak defied the wind to shoot an excellent plus-7 to win the Par competition and B-grade at Pakenham Golf Club on Saturday.
Ken McIntyre was the winner of A-grade with +6 and David Leach took out C-grade with a score of +4.
Down-the-line balls were won by John Oswald +6, David Jack +4, Ross MacLean +4, Gordon Mackenzie +4, Alex Green +3, Mark Klaver +3, Theo Van Roy +3, Bob Yates +3, Graeme Steel +3, John Dickinson +3, Ron Thouliiss +3, David Shannon +2, Al Campbell +2, Barry Williams +2, Michael Davey +2, George Coffey +2, Jim Welsh +2, Paul Mannens +2, Mark Russell +2, John Rawiri +2, Brain Fruend +2, Aaron Attwood +2, Stan Gilbert, Dean Jones and Noel Boyd all +1.
All +1 were paid on a countback.
Nearest the pin on the Shanikas@Viale second hole was won by Jim Gilluley with Ken Hunter taking out the Bubba Pizza Pakenham fifth hole.
Neil Currie was the winner of the Dante’s Wood-fired Pizza eighth hole and the pro-pin went to Harry Leo.
Wayne Caffyn was the winner of the Pakenham Pizza 16th hole and the B.M.R. Autos second shot on the sixth saw Rob Curtis successful.
The B.M.R. Autos longest drive went to Colin Crowle with Doug Law the B-grade winner.
Peter Attwood was the winner of the McIntyre Painting C-grade longest drive.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:ECLECTIC SUCCESS

The Eclectic winners for 2008 are – A Grade 0-12 handicap: The Scratch winner was Scott Milnes with 62 and the nett winner was Rob Sandiford 58.
B-grade (13-21 handicap) saw Rob Curtis win the scratch event with 66 and the nett winner was president Rob Nobelius 60.
Alan Tagell was the winner of the C-grade scratch (22-36 handicap) with 72 and Tom McDermott took out the nett division with 62.
Each Player receives $65 to spend in the Golf Shop.
The 2009 Eclectic starts on Saturday, 10 January. Check at the Golf Shop for further details.

This week is the January Monthly Medal sponsored by Cignall Berwick.
Saturday, 17 January is a four-ball-best-ball Stableford event and is also a guest day.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:OPENING DAY

Pakenham Golf Club opening day for 2009 will be held on Sunday, 18 January with a Mixed Canadian event followed by a barbecue tea.
Hit-off is 1pm. Those intending to play are asked to book, as catering numbers are required.
Cost is $12 per pair for golf and $15 per person for tea.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:WEDNESDAY COMPETITION
(31 DECEMBER)

As many players were still on a break from work the Wednesday competition saw 107 players compete in the morning Stableford round.
The winner was Tim Cornell with a good score of 44 points from Arthur Ellis with 43.
Down-the-line balls went to Jake Rawiri 41, Barry Sorrell 41, Mark Klaver 40, Barry Williams 40, Bob Morrison 39, Peter Diss 39, Brian Webster 39, George Coffey 39, Stan Gilbert 38 and Paul Hobson 38.
Nearest the pin on the second hole was won by Eric Butcher with Bob Dowse taking out the fifth hole.
Greg Riley, who is back after not playing golf for a couple of years, took out the eighth hole and Rob Thoulliss was the winner on the 14th.
The 16th hole went to Graeme Steel.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:TWILIGHT COMPETITION

Even though no snacks or meals were available, a number of players took part in the Stableford competition.
The winner was Bob Morrison with 22 on a countback from Jake Rawiri.
Down-the-line balls went to Michael Popof 22, Ron Carroll 22, Ray Leonard 22, Arthur Ellis 21, Barry Williams 21, Dave Lummis 21, Bernie Gramc 20 and Paul Hobson 20.
Nearest the pin went to Rohan Nancarrow.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:SUNDAY COMPETITION

The Stableford competition on 4 January attracted 34 players with Joe Tonso coming in the winner with 41 points on a countback from J. Brown. Down-the-line balls went to Nigel Trickey 40, Lance Lee 40 and Murray O’Dwyer 40.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:LADIES

Members are having a break from formal competitions during January, but there is a ball event held each Thursday with the hit-off time being between 8am and 8.30am.
February sees the Summer Cup rounds being played – check the programme book for details.
