TWO graduates from the class of 2008 at Beaconhills College have received individual recognition for outstanding VCE results.
Kirk Buckland and Benjamin Szabo were selected as two of the top five students in Victoria for their achievements in systems engineering.
Benjamin also had his VCE work, a remote controlled fridge door, short-listed for the Top Design Exhibition held early this year.
Environmental Geographer and Sustainability Strategist, Rob Gell, presented Kirk and Benjamin with Premiers Awards at a special ceremony at the Melbourne Convention Centre on 21 July.
Benjamin is now studying engineering – civil and infrastructure at RMIT University and Kirk is studying engineering at Monash University.
Beaconhills College has enjoyed many successes from the Technology Department in systems engineering, with two students receiving Premier’s Awards in 2007, two in 2006 and one in 2004.
Mark Tory, head of technology and systems engineering teacher said it had been a great delight for him to teach students who were capable of producing such high quality work.
“The students have produced some very imaginative and functional projects over the years,” he said.
