AS PRICES in the far north begin to subside due to lighter demand, southern states have started to follow suit, with all categories yarded at the Wednesday Fat Cattle Sale at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange Warragul, last week registering an easement in the average prices, especially in the lighter end.
Fifty three bullocks this week ranged from 115 to 170.2 cents, easing 14 cents to 159.2 cents.
Ninety five heifers saw their range start at a low of 110 cents to a high of 179.2 cents for heavy and 124.2 cents to 137.2 cents for light, with an overall average of 143.7 cents.
Fifty nine steers eased less than bullocks and steers averaging 157.7 cents to range from 120.2 cents to 180.2 cents with good pen lots on offer.
Two hundred and ten vealers held good value in the top range with heavy veal making from 105.2 cents to 225 cents and light 108.6 cents to 190.2 cents.
The trend carried over to the bull and cow sale on Thursday, with bullocks being the exception, managing to rise 12 cents on last sale.
Twenty three bulls made from 80 cents to 156 cents, while 39 bullocks ranged from 125.6 cents to 163.6 cents.
