Australia Day awards last call

CARDINIA Shire mayor Bill Pearson has put out a last call for Australia Day Award nominations.
Residents have until Friday 30 October to nominate people in their towns who give tirelessly by volunteering in local groups, clubs and community projects.
The Cardinia Shire Australia Day Awards will be presented at celebrations on 26 January at the Cardinia Cultural Centre.
These awards recognise and celebrate the achievements and contributions of valued community members in five categories: Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year and Community Service Award.
The fifth category, Community Service Award, is to honour people who do not live in Cardinia Shire but have made significant contributions to the Cardinia Shire community.
For more information or to make a nomination, call 1300 787 624 or download a form from www.cardinia.vic.gov.au/australiaday and submit the nomination no later than Friday 30 October.
