CARDINIA’S senior citizens are out in force this week taking part in a variety of free and discounted events.
Classes at Pakenham’s U3A, concerts at Kooweerup and Pakenham Senior Citizens’ Clubs and carpet bowls at Emerald Evergreen Senior Citizens Club are a few of the fun events on offer during seniors week.
Cardinia Shire mayor Bill Pearson said every activity aimed to encourage people over 50 to join in community life and meet old friends and new in fun settings.
“As a senior citizen myself, I cannot speak too highly of the benefits of taking part in community activities,” he said.
“It’s great to have a zest for life and things to look forward to, so I hope all seniors in our shire take advantage of Seniors Week and have heaps of fun along the way.”
