A CHARACTER called Aussi was the apple in the eyes of children at Pakenham Hills Primary School last Wednesday.
The red apple man presented children with colourful story books and showbags during a visit from a team of southern Victorian apple growers.
Apple slinkies were a hit with students as Aussi Apple spread the healthy eating message during a fun-filled 30-minute presentation.
Helene Armour, co-ordinator of the program, said that Victorian apple growers saw the purpose of the program as two-fold.
“While helping to promote our product we believe that we are doing something towards enforcing a healthy eating message among young children,” she said.
“This can only result in healthier and happier children.”
