PAKENHAM residents could be forgiven for looking twice as police randomly breath-tested motorists at 9am on Monday morning.
Senior Sergeant Alan McCarthy said it was part of a routine operation that Pakenham police would be conducting at any time and anywhere.
“We won’t be out just on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights,” he said.
“People need to know that we can be out at any given moment.”
He said while it could be seen as an unusual time to breath-test individuals, police were not only looking for drink drivers.
“It is amazing what we come across,” he said.
