Tanya all fired up for duty

CARDINIA Shire Council is fire ready and focused on protecting residents this season.
It has recently appointed Tanya Winn to help residents and its most vulnerable communities be prepared for the fire season.
Ms Winn has a wealth of experience in rural fire service organisations across Australia and emergency management over a 20-year period and has “hit the ground running”.
She is already attending community bushfire meetings and will be a regular presence at township meetings, particularly where fire preparation is a focus, between now and Christmas.
Her role over the next six months will be to raise awareness in the community about bushfire preparedness. She is part of a wider council team working to support the CFA and emergency services and strengthen community capacity across the shire.
Mayor Bill Pearson said her diverse training and experience in Victoria and other states in a range of emergency situations, starting in the Ash Wednesday fires, drove her commitment to supporting Cardinia residents.
“Tanya provides another important resource to bushfire preparedness and will work with Card-inia Shire residents to build their confidence, capacity and knowledge about how to survive bushfires,” councillor Pearson said.
