Fighting for funds

By Bridget Cook
More than 200 at a time filled the hotel to watch eight bands play as well as enjoy other festivities including raffles, and a jumping castle and face painting for the kids.
The event, organised by High Energy Events and Entertainment, raised about $670 in donations for the Pakenham CFA, which will go towards their new fire truck.
Local businesses donated a number of items and vouchers, which were raffled off on the day. The winner of the barbecue, which was contributed by Bunning’s, donated it to the Pakenham CFA after they heard the station didn’t have one.
Event organiser Sean Powell said he was thrilled with how the event went.
“It had a great family friendly atmosphere throughout the afternoon, then turned to a typical band night later on,” he said.
Mr Powell said he organised the event to help the bands out and show the local community the great local talent and entertainment.
“I thought the best way to do it was as a fund-raiser and the CFA seemed a great cause to help out,” he said.
“I plan to run it each year and pick another community organisation each time to raise funds for.”
The fund-raiser showcased eight bands – Riff Raff, Roadhog, Andrew Swift, Joel Spence, Blown 57, The Longhorns, 79 Revisited and Lincoln Le Fevre.
