Speed drop sensible

I WOULD like to commend Sergeant Atkins of Pakenham Police for the effort and the result to lower the speed limit on the Pakenham-Kooweerup Road.
He is certainly aware of the dangerous situation commuters, tourists and truck drivers face that could end in catastrophe as heavy trucks, cars and other vehicles are at risk of having a serious accident.
It must be said that 90 km/h is a more reasonable speed due to the state of the Pakenham-Kooweerup Road, as it was not built to take the volume of traffic that is increasing by the minute and the fall-out of traffic to and from the Pakenham bypass.
The Brumby Government must accept and recognise that this is a road of national importance and it is a socio-economic and environmental issue, that farmers, commuters and trucks must have a safe road environment in which to travel to and from their place of work.
This is a bad mix of heavy traffic and speed, as there are certain members of the community who do not adhere to road signage.
Care has to be taken at all times, as Ian Williams remarked that he finds the road long, winding and enjoyable and has not problem.
Good luck to you if you find this speed reduction annoying.
The community is affected by accidents and road hazards that are occurring frequently, which causes traffic hold-ups that cause frustration to drivers, police and the community.
