Close call Marygoons

NAR Nar Goon-Maryknoll fell an agonising 10 runs short of Beaconsfield in Sub-District Division’s round-six, one-day game on Saturday.
The Marygoons lost the toss and were asked to bowl and wickets were hard to come by, with Beaconsfield making 4/185 after the 45 overs.
Jackson Payroli and Chase Saunders opened the bowling without luck.
Joey Sweeney and Dave Harvie came on first change and took 1/31 off nine and 2/26 off nine respectively.
Joe Murphy and Sam Vanderzalm came on second change and both bowled well to get 1/33 and 0/32 respectively off their six overs.
Al Downes and Sam Vanderzalm opened the batting.
Both played aggressively, with Downes making 12 and Vanderzalm making 24.
Chase Saunders came in at number-six and belted a quick-fire 17, including four fours. Dave Harvie at number seven made 41, Joe Murphy at number-nine batted really well for 30 and Jackson Payroli ended up on eight not-out with Graham Douglas making five not-out.

After winning the toss Nar Nar Goon-Maryknoll decided to bat and with some steady work went to tea at 7/208.
It was great middle-order batting by Sean Kallady, retired on 52, Darren Salan, 25 runs, and Tim Kallady 22 runs.
Sean Kallady, Jack Salan and Dylan Cameron piled on 58 runs in the last three overs.
After tea the Marygoons took to the field and Cardinia got off to a flier to be 0/65 after eight overs.
Then Jack Salan (under-15) came on and cleaned up – taking 6/17 off three overs with Darren Salan, Kevin Turner and Dylan Cameron all taking one apiece.
Cardinia was all out for 150 runs.
Two excellent outfield catches each were taken by Stuart Dakota-Rainer and Tim Kallady.
