Swamp Tigers back – Lang Lang all-rounder

LANG Lang’s Sub-District team got back into winning form in the round 6, one-day game on Saturday, with a comprehensive victory over Gembrook.
The Swamp Tigers’ F-grade team, although losing, put in a much better effort against top side Beaconsfield.
The highlight for the weekend for Lang Lang was the brilliant half-century-plus unbeaten innings of Nic Beale in the game against Gembrook.
Lang Lang won the toss, elected to bowl and got instant results – the first wicket falling with the score on nine after Nic Beale took a catch off the bowling of Rogan Fraser and 28 runs later, Glenn Easton took a smart caught-and-bowled to dismiss the dangerous Williams.
A damaging partnership of 43 was ended when veteran ’keeper Sean Hassett had Newton stumped off the bowling of Nic Beale with the score on 80.
Lang Lang managed to get the remaining seven wickets rather cheaply, dismissing Gembrook for 106, with Glenn Easton and Gareth Andrews being the best of the bowlers, taking three wickets each, with Ross Douglas grabbing two.
Lang Lang started its innings briskly, but with the score on 16, Sean Hassett was caught behind for seven.
Gareth Andrews and Nic Beale kept the runs coming at a good rate and managed to put on 36 runs for the second wicket which ended when Andrews was caught after making 26.
Rogan Fraser joined Beale at the crease and the two combined well with an unbeaten stand of 72 to see Lang Lang make 2/122 off 30 overs.
It was a very good innings by Beale of 52 not-out, his highest score since joining the club, and Fraser made 35 not-out, resulting in an eight-wicket win by the Swamp Tigers.
