Good yarding trend continues

ANOTHER good yarding at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange, Warragul, this Wednesday saw 810 head on offer with demand continuing last week’s lighter trend, although the easing in some categories was not as great as reported around the state.
Seventy six bullocks eased the top price and, in turn, backed down two cents on average to 144.1.
The top was 150 cents and the lighter end price was 122.6.
One hundred and forty two heifers saw a 1.5-cent increase in average to sell strongly with restockers in the thick of it. No light sub 300 kilogram heifers were on offer with prices ranging from 112.6 to 170 cents.
One hundred and fifty three steers which contained very few light head followed the trend of bullock prices averaging 142.1 cents, which was nine cents easier than last week, and saw prices range from 114.6 to 156 cents.
Four hundred and thirty five vealers were yarded, with the top easing back to 182 cents, well below their worth. Quality was up with the best of sales with demand the draw back.
Vealers slipped nine cents also with heavy ranging from 100 to 182 cents and light 100 to 174.2 cents.
Extra bulls on Thursday saw the price reach a good high of 152.6 cents, the light end kept the average back slightly with an average of 125.5 cents as the bottom range price started at 103.2.
Twenty one good bullocks sold well with the average comparable to last Thursday at 134.6 and the range was 124.6 to 142 cents.
