Makeover for playground

ANDREWS Community Kindergarten received a playground makeover as one of two organisations to benefit from the Bunnings Warehouse Community Support program.
Ann Wynne from Andrews Community Kindergarten said the new playground, completed on October 27, will help children’s learning, play and even cooking exercises.
“Obviously the children, staff and committee are really appreciative,” she said.
“The outside area allows the children to explore and observe nature and also have the responsibility of looking after it by watering it everyday with tank water.”
Improvements to the existing garden and playground area include a dry river bed, a bridge to walk over the river bed, a bush hut and a new vegetable patch. An abundance of native plants surround the new developments.
“For our project they redeemed our veggie garden which the children helped to plant.
“Now, they can sit in the bush hut and enjoy quiet time with friends,” Ms Wynne said.
The children will be able to use the vegetables and herbs grown in the veggie patch when cooking at kinder.
“The children are getting excited about the vegies they’ll be able to have,” Ms Wynne said.
“Bunnings also added a scarecrow which the children love.”
Ms Wynne said all of these improvements contribute to a wonderful sensory experience for the children at the kindergarten.
