Santa helps out the kids

Labertouche children were treated to a surprise visit last week.Labertouche children were treated to a surprise visit last week.

ARRIVING in a CFA fire truck, Santa was the special guest at the community carols and barbecue held in Labertouche for fire-affected community members.
The barbecue was designed for community members and volunteers still working in the area to come together and celebrate Christmas in a relaxed, family-friendly environment.
Baw Baw Shire Council Mayor Cr Adam Tyson said the event, organised by the Community Church Warragul, was a great way for people who had experienced a challenging time over the past 10 months to put their concerns aside for one night and enjoy themselves among those who had faced similar challenges.
“People within fire-affected communities have faced some tough times since the Black Saturday bushfires and it was great to see these communities really pull together to support one another’s well-being,” Cr Tyson said.
Cr Tyson said the night was a success with the Out of the Ashes Choir performing Christmas carols before the Community Church Warragul Music Team performed some of their own carols.
Everyone is welcome to attend the next community and volunteer tea to be held on Saturday, 6 February.
