THE Garfield Bowling Club’s post-Christmas tournament was again a resounding success and participants declared it the best ever.
The competition was made colourful by the range of bright club uniforms of the various teams competing – some as far away as Bendigo – added to which was the rainbow effect of the various coloured bowls now in use.
The teams praised the organisation of the events by the Garfield match committee, especially the immaculate green prepared by the Greens committee.
Pakenham’s K. Goonan and team won the mixed pairs while D. Leigh’s team won the two bowls triples.
Last year’s Club Champion, Jim Oliver, who is qualified for the next round of the NSW Open, gained some useful practice when asked to stand in for an unavailable Pakenham member, leading the team to a Runners’ Up prize.
Kudos for top tournament
