THE winner of the Giant Trailer Raffle organised by the Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs of Pakenham was drawn amid much excitement on Saturday 18 December.
Cardinia Shire mayor George Blenkhorn, also a Rotarian, entered the spirit of the day and almost disappeared into the huge wheelie bin full of tickets to select the winner.
The winner, Dianne Morgan of Knoxfield, was overwhelmed when she came to collect her prize.
Ms Morgan won the trailer jam-packed with the larger sturdy boxes that contained the television, DVD player, four-burner barbecue, the wheelbarrow, child’s ride on tractor, child’s bike and helmet and bar fridge.
There were about 30 other individual donations that were too delicate to be transported in the trailer as it was delivered to the local shopping centres during the past six weeks.
The extras included several hampers containing wine and nibble treats, cosmetics and beauty products, a hand crafted quilt, clothing and toys.
A total of 13 vouchers for goods and services rounded out the prize.
More than 78 local businesses very generously donated all the goods that were valued in excess of $7000.
The Inner Wheel and Rotary Clubs of Pakenham were thrilled with the support both from the local business community and the general public who so willingly supported this major fund-raiser each year.
It is anticipated the raffle will raise about $12,000 which will be distributed in the New Year to the selected charities.
