A host of activities planned to celebrate Australia Day

THE Cardinia Shire has a number of free events to celebrate Australia Day in style.

Pakenham
Cardinia Cultural Centre, Lakeside Drive 11am–2pm
The event will include the mayor’s Australia Day address, presentation of Cardinia Shire Australia Day Awards, a citizenship ceremony as well as a free community barbecue and activities including face painting, animal farm, jumping castle, roving entertainment, MYBus, Landcare display and native plant giveaway.
Cockatoo
Alma Treloar Reserve 8.30am–11am
Enjoy sausages, pancakes and fruit platters while watching the national flag being raised and take part in a local cricket game for the young and not so young (weather permitting). Don’t forget to bring a hat and sunscreen.

Koowee rup
Kooweerup Community Centre 8.30am–10.45am
Celebrate Australia Day with eggs and bacon for breakfast while listening to the Koo Wee Rup Secondary College Band, and a local poet as well as celebrating with community minded locals at the Kooweerup Australia Day Awards.
Why not indulge in lamingtons and cream for morning tea.

Lang Lang
Lang Lang Memorial Hall 8am–10am
Enjoy a community breakfast, country music and a citizenship ceremony while listening to the Lang Lang Community Singers and Lang Lang Primary School Choir.
