THE CFA has warned residents and shoppers at Heritage Springs Shopping Centre in Pakenham to be aware of slippery roads after a diesel spill at the Shell Petrol Station on Tuesday.
A Shell spokesman said it was unknown who was responsible for the spill, but it definitely had not been caused by the company or its staff.
CFA crew members covered parts of McGregor Road and Livingstone Boulevard with sand to help soak up the diesel and enable residents to use the roads.
Adam Blackney of the Pakenham CFA said there was probably around 200 litres of diesel spilt.
“It’s extremely slippery,” Mr Blackney said.
“Residents can speak to the police about any concerns.”
Livingstone Boulevard resident Marie Hansen-Nooy said her family had been told not to use the roads in case of sparks.
“The police didn’t notify me,” Ms Hansen-Nooy said.
“My son was the one who found out and we can’t even move our car out of the garage.”
Mr Blackney said residents were free to go as they pleased, but advised people to drive slowly.
