Garfield’s hole in the wall

GARFIELD residents wanted it, and the Bendigo Bank branch of Bunyip and District Community delivered.
The town now has an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) available 24 hours a day.
At Friday’s opening branch manager Sue Dubbeld said Garfield was roughly central to the customer base, which is mainly within the area from Longwarry to Pakenham.
“Many of our customers have requested this facility for Garfield so we are delighted and proud to be able to deliver,” Ms Dubbeld said.
“It also means that the continually increasing numbers of our account holders will now enjoy fee-free usage of the ATM in Garfield,” she said.
Director Lindsay McNaught said even residents who weren’t customers of the bank would be happier with the situation where half of that fee, and of other bank charges, remained in the area.
“ All the board members volunteer their time because they see the enormous potential to the community,” Mr McNaught said.
“We urge everyone in the area to consider switching some of their banking across and, if in doubt, to contact Sue Dubbeld and her staff to discuss the options.
“Every additional account will assist us to continually expand the already impressive list of not for profit groups who have financially benefited, as well as continuing to improve banking facilities in the area.”
