Mower madness

GENTLEMEN, start your two-strokes.
It doesn’t quite have the glamour of Formula One, but this month’s Poowong Mower Muster is certain to attract plenty of interest.
The event will be held at the Poowong North Hall on Timms Road on Sunday 13 March.
Patrons can expect to see a variety of ride-on mowers turned into racing machines with 110cc to 450cc engines racing around the makeshift track at speeds of up to 70km/h or more.
Last year’s event saw more than 35 mowers attend and a crowd of over 500 lining the track.
All movers have their cutting blades put of action before racing – otherwise the crashes could be a messy affair.
The Poowong CFA is hosting the event, with local CFA captain Stephen Douglas expected to be a front runner in the race.
Stephen is currently the championship leader in his class.
Other entertainment on the day includes children’s games, jumping castles, face painting, Sam the Koala and raffles with great prizes to be won.
For further information contact Stephen on 0467 318 333 or Krystal on 0439 831 502.
