Market easy with holiday break

ONLY a token yarding of cattle were penned at VLE Pakenham this week, mainly due to the public holiday.
Despite this, most processor representatives were present to compete for the mostly plain quality line-up of nine bullocks, 60 cows and 11 bulls.
Prices tended to be easier overall.

Two medium weight C3 steers of better quality made 205 cents per kilogram.
The cow draft was basically made up of poorer dairy cows, with only a couple of pens of good quality beef cows with better finish.
Medium weight D1 dairy cows averaged 139 cents per kilogram to be 10 cents per kilogram easier.
Heavy D3 Friesians averaged 158 cents, down by four cents per kilogram.
