SOME 52 keen players competed at the Pakenham Regional Tennis Centre in a junior and senior tennis tournament on the weekend, when 68 sets of singles and doubles matches were completed with entrants playing a minimum of three sets.
Six events were completed. In the boys’ 18 and under singles, Lachlan Bridgeland defeated Clinton Pinney 8-4, while in the boys’ 14 and under singles Corey Horvath defeated Joshua Crane 8-6.
The girls’ 18 and under singles was won by Shannon Meechan, who downed Jess Albon 8-4. The Unisex 10 and under singles was won by Thomas Jordan, who downed Lachlan Easton 8-7.
The men’s 25+ singles saw David Ivanovic down Steve Horvath 8-2, while in the ladies’ 25+ doubles, Sally Cunninghan and Lee Nooy defeated Penny Van Roy and Melinda Motta 8-5.
The next two events on the tournament calendar at the PRTC are junior events.
On Sunday 3 April, a junior graded singles tournament will be held and between 18 and 21 April, a junior age-group tournament will be held where competitors can enter singles and doubles events.
