Still turning heads

By Peter Sweeney
IN life, Zeus went everywhere with his master.
In death, he’s doing the same … and he’s still turning heads.
Zeus was a pure-bred rottweiler who loved – and was loved by – David Joyce, a trainee professional at the Pakenham Golf Club.
When Zeus was called to the dog gods last November, Joyce, understandably, was pretty upset.
Joyce knew he could never forget Zeus, however, he wanted others to do the same.
After all, in life Zeus, who was given to Joyce by his wife Karren, travelled with him to many countries, sitting and watching his master drive and putt.
These days, Zeus mightn’t be there physically, but he is in spirit.
Joyce has a rottweiler soft toy, the spitting image of Zeus, as the head cover on his driver.
“It makes my driver look intimidating like the big black boy (Zeus) was,” Joyce said.
“And I’m just hoping it (the driver) commands the same respect as he did.
“We’ve still got Zeus’ wife, the mother of his pups, at home.”
