The bare Bones

BONES, the collaboration of producer Hart Hanson and author Kathy Reichs has become one of television’s most successful series, having recently entered its sixth season.
Though not the primary focus of the series, perhaps one of the most engaging points of conflict the show has to offer is the ongoing unresolved sexual tension between Temperance “Bones” Brennan, the socially inept but brilliant forensic anthropologist and Seely Booth, the ex-US Army sniper turned FBI agent. Initially paired together so that Temperance’s skills in forensics could aid Booth in various murder investigations, their relationship has developed throughout the series to the point where it seems that, while aware of their mutual attraction, neither is prepared to act upon it.
Enter Hannah, Booth’s current girlfriend and the source of season six’s conflict between him and Bones, who is beginning to realise that perhaps she should have taken a chance on her relationship with Booth and that it now may be too late.
While Bones is often packaged as a crime drama, it would seem that the dead bodies they are attempting to identify and the stories behind their death act only as catalysts for the changes each character undergoes throughout the series.
For a female audience, Bones offers almost everything – a sexy male lead, strong female protagonist and an endless supply of excitement – however, for most men, it will fall far short of the more masculine Criminal Minds and CSI.
