Nar Nar Goon/
Maryknoll
@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 17 NORTH
AFTER winning the toss Nar Nar Goon/Maryknoll elected to bat. The side got off to a great start with Josh Lownds (27) and Josh Miller (19) putting on 48 for the first wicket, then losing our way a bit saw us 4/66.
Jacob Bardwell (3) and Jordan Payroli (37) batted well together, which saw Bardwell lose his wicket. Jordan and Tyler Guan (24 not out) batted well to see the score go to 142. The last three batsmen all batted well to finish on 179 which was a tough score to chase down.
With a great spell of bowling from Vincent Van Strijp, 2/16 and Joey Sweeney 1/11, Beaconsfield was in big trouble at 4/5. Beaconsfield fought its way a bit, losing the next wicket at 57.
Wickets were shared around with Sam Vanderzalm, Lachie Gridley both taking two wickets and Josh Lownds and Josh Miller both taking a wicket. Beaconsfield was all out for 132, which was a great win for the boys. Man of the match was Jordan Payroli.
Berwick
@BT Sub Sport Gaz:A GRADE
FIRST place took on second place as Berwick battled Parkfield in the grand final at Carroll Reserve with the heat on from the opening overs.
In early play, Aaron Barnard took three of the first four wickets to fall, and two neat catches to Ben Holland behind the pegs had Berwick in the driver’s seat with Parkfield 3/26 before they rebounded to 4/81 at the tea break off 49 overs.
Parkfield then took command with a middle-order resurgence that saw them draw away to be 5/129, with Damien Quinlan toiling away for 19 overs 0/52.
Barnard struck again to give him 28-10-4-70 and Pete Haxell was handy with 14-5-1-30. Steve Tolley was unlucky not to get more opportunity with the ball after 6-1-0-7 and Trevor McGeachin did some damage in the middle order with 13-3-2-49, while Tom Waters chipped in with two run outs to give Parkfield the jitters at 9/168.
However one final twist lead to a 51-run last wicket stand that gave Parkfield the upper hand leading into day two with a challenging chase of 219 ahead of the Bears.
They never fired a shot with the bat – only Waters (37) and Quinlan (29) offering any resistance – as they slumped to be all out for just 92, and a promising season ended in tatters.
@BT Sub Sport Gaz:E GRADE
An exciting contest dominated by the ball played out at Edwin Flack as Berwick took on Cranbourne in a battle royale. Given the opportunity to bat first, a number of Berwick batsmen got starts before throwing their wickets away as Berwick were rattled for just 104.
Damien Cooper (14), Mitch Pugh (19), Craig Belleville (16), Dave Maio (11), and Hayden Belleville (12) all had opportunities to exert their authority, but they left the work up to the bowlers.
They were not disappointed as Cranbourne lost three vital wickets on the first night before they made their way to 55 before the loss of their fourth wicket on day two. Tom Goodes was the pick of the bowlers once again, the spearhead helping himself to a game high 16-6-4-24, while Hemath Ananta and Nathan Workman each collected one for their side.
But it was Grant Robinson who proved to be the game-clincher, adding to his two catches with the last four wickets to fall from his own bowling, including three adjudged lbw, as the Bears closed out the most exciting of victories.
Cranbourne were all out 84 to give Berwick a win to savour and a deserved reward for this side with a perfect balance of youthful exuberance and mature spirit.

Cardinia
CARDINIA’S Premier team was narrowly beaten in the grand final by the unbeaten Beaconsfield. Playing in its third grand final in a row and the first against Beaconsfield at the top level, Cardinia bowled first in perfect conditions.
Beaconsfield got off to a great start despite some great bowling from Neil Barfuss and Dwayne Doig. Beaconsfield was intent on keeping wickets and not taking too many risks.
At tea they had reached an ominous 2/108 and a big score was there for the taking.
At 2/183 some great fielding from Cardinia saw the pressure to score quickly result in several run-outs as Cardinia found itself back in the game with three quick wickets.
Eighteen-year-old Jason Fisher bowled a great spell that resulted in another two run-outs, which saw Beaconsfield crash to 8/216.
Some steady batting eventually had the Tigers reach a respectable 238 . Neil Barfuss’ three wickets was the best of the Bulls bowlers .
Cardinia started in the worst possible way in its run chase losing Mark Cooper in the third over, and things only got worse as Nooy and Barfuss followed soon after to see Cardinia down and almost out at 3/31.
From there things got worse as the Bulls slumped to 6/76 with Steve Patterson scoring 26.
Veteran Ben Darose and Mark Andolfatto then started a rescue mission as the tiring and half-fit Beaconsfield attack started to labor. They took the score to 139 before Andolfatto was out for 36. Luke Turner joined Darose and once again the scoring rate increased as the partnership moved to 41, when Turner was bowled for 18.
With 61 required and only two wickets remaining both Darose and Dean Henwood continued to attack as the Cardinia faithful dared to dream.
As the score reached 213 Ben Darose’s brilliant innings of 82 came to an end, caught at deep mid-off.
Jason Fisher and Henwood gradually got the score to 229 before Henwood was caught, ending a great come-back by the Bulls to fall agonizingly short. Henwoods innings of 33 showed signs of another good all-rounder coming through for Cardinia.
Thankyou to the Officer Cricket Club for presenting such great conditions, and to Beaconsfield, who are deserved premiers.
@BT Sub Sport Gaz:C GRADE
Cardinia C Grade pulled off a magnificent victory to make it two in a row. Batting first against Clyde the Bulls were all but gone at 6/26 before Clint Giplin and captain Matt Ryan etched out a solid 36-run partnership, before Matt was out for 24.
Clint was joined by Evan Webster, who started the most important innings of his career. These two got the score to 81 before Clint was out for a well-made 29.
Chris Lemon then made his way to the crease and with grim determination kept the Clyde bowlers at bay while – slowly but surely – the scoreboard ticked over.
Chris was bowled for 10 as the score reached 102. Nat Wade and Evan managed to see the Bulls to 108 before Nat was out.
Evan remained 13 not out and batted for 24 overs which was to prove pivotal in the result.
A nasty session for Clyde saw them lose two wickets both to a pumped up Chris Lemon to finish the day 2/15 .
With nothing to lose, the Bulls returned full of enthusiasm and overwhelmed Clyde, Nat Wade removing guns Brad Goodman and Stuart Williams.
From there Chris Lemon on his 35th birthday was unstoppable, running through the Clyde team to see them all out for 91.
Lemon finished with 6/37 a brilliant man of the match performance.
@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 17
The under-17s took on the undefeated top side Devon Meadows and did well to restrict them to 138. At 3/109 things didn’t look good but Ben Hussey 4/27 and Brayden Browne 3/34 produced great spells to restrict the Meadows.
In the run chase, captain Alex Nooy opened with a new partner Brad Taylor and this worked a treat as they put on 41 before Taylor was out for 15. But with Nooy going along beautifully eventually retiring on 51 the run chase was always in control.
Lawrence Kazinotti 15, Dillon Allen 18, Jack Sparkes 15 and Ryan Little 13 not out all made great contributions as Cardinia reached the target in the 33rd over with eight wickets down.
Well done to man of the match and captain Alex Nooy and coach Ricky Campbell for their efforts this year.
@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 15
Cardinia under-15s were well beaten by Beaconsfield in a disappointing effort. Batting first Cardinia only managed 113 with Cameron Brown 18, Angus McNabb 15 and Caleb Boswell 11 the only batsmen to reach double figures.
Beaconsfield reached the target in the 32nd over for the loss of four wickets. Over all, a great season from this team, topped up with four under-13 players, and it did very well to play off for the flag.
Thanks to Brad Drews and Pat Nolen for their coaching bigger and better thing to come for this bunch of young Bulls.
@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 13
The under-13s took out this year’s premiership against Officer. Bowling first, Cardinia bowled Officer out for 108 in the 34th over.
Wickets were shared with Cam Brown, Wayne Linford and Brady Boswell taking two apiece.
In the run chase, the Bulls were always in control not losing a wicket until the score reached 78.
Travis Wheller 27, Cam Brown 30 retired and Matt Welsh 32 did the job for Cardinia as the target was reached in the 30th over.
A tremendous year from the boys and our two young girls and thanks to Brady Welsh for his coaching.
officer
THE junior sides – the under-15s and the under-13 South team – fought out grand finals, with the former having a great win.
@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 15
The under-15s had a fantastic win in a great game of cricket with the win against Nar Nar Goon/Maryknoll having many highlights. Officer made 112 with captain Jesse Longmuir making a great 44 and also bolwing a tight spell in a crucial stage of the game. Mitch Whitham batted superbly for 33 – and with 2/7 from 4.3 overs had a sensational game to win the man of the match award.
Toyosi Solanke had a brilliant hat-trick with all wickets bowled and took 3/13. Billy Temby 1/8 off six overs bowled very well as did Ryan Bromley 1/5 from six overs. Mitch Tivendale also bowled well at a pressure stage of the game to take 2/7 with two key batsmen. Billy Temby also made a valuable 13 as Officer bowled out Nar Nar Goon for 82 to win the grand final.
@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 13
The under-13s played Cardinia and made 108 batting first with Tyler Clark and Jamie Longmuir doing well opening the batting and Tyler Clark making 21 and Jamie made a good 13.
Mitch Whitham was also looking good and was out for 13 run out. J. Watts made 9 and Kai Harris 6. Officer found it tough early with the ball with an opening stand by Cardinia of 78. Jake Mackenzie took 2/21 and Callum Porter 1/18 with the new ball. Tyler Clark had 1/17 from five overs but Cardinia made 4/112 to win the premiership in the 30th over.
Well done to coach Tony Whitham and the side on a great season.
