PANORAMA Estate and Beaconsfield Township residents will soon be able to cross the Princes Highway safely through the installation of a new footpath to help connect the neighbouring areas.
Cr Brett Owen said that after the recent installation of lights across the highway, it was great to see the $120,000 footpath being constructed to provide safe pedestrian linkages between the Panorama Estate and the Beaconsfield Township.
“We didn’t want to start on the footpath until safe pedestrian crossing access was available, which is why we had to advocate for the lights,” Cr Owen said.
“Now people from Panorama can have safe access to Beaconsfield and can now feel connected to Beaconsfield.”
Cr Owen said he had seen students walking along the edges of the highway and cutting across the highway at night.
“People can now cross at the lights,” he said.
