UPPER Beaconsfield hosted the 17th Annual Victorian Interschool Equestrian Challenge earlier this week, with more than 80 primary school kids competing for medals and trophies.
Held at the Victorian Equestrian Centre, teams and individuals were drawn from schools across Victoria and placed into 10 teams, consisting of four riders in each. The remaining competitors who weren’t selected in a team represented their school as an individual.
Of the teams, Mt Erin College Team I finished in first place on 127 pts, Beaconhills College Team J claimed second (125) and St Leonard’s Team G were equal third with Beaconhills College Team F (105pts).
Kooweerup’s Catrina Lamond, 17, wrapped up first place in the individual event on 40 points, followed closely by 13-year-old Monica Bilton from Beaconhills College (39pts) and 15-year-old Emily Hunt claiming third, also from Beaconhills College (38pts).
On the horizon, the Victorian Equestrian Centre will also host the Interschool Dressage Competition to be held on 30 May, followed by the Victorian Interschool Showjumping Challenge held later this year on 29 August.
