TWO schools banded together to make music last week.
Held at Kooweerup Secondary College, students from Kooweerup and Mornington Secondary College took part in a combined band workshop.
Music co-ordinator Claudia Barker said the day was a huge success.
“We went to Mornington last year, so this year their senior band, came for the whole day,” she said.
“They took part in a workshop all morning, then joined us for lunch before putting on a concert for our Year 7 students.”
The concert, driven primarily by the students showcased much of what was learnt during the workshop.
“It was great because the kids were able to socialise,” she said.
“Music is a great leveller – we saw year seven kids mixing with Year 12s.”
Ms Barker is preparing to take the band to London in 2012 for London Bands Festival.
“Everything we do from here on is about taking Australian music to London,” she said.
