BEMM River – and its clutch of mighty bream – was host to a recent weekend outing by 18 members of the Pakenham Angling Club.
Weather was excellent on the first day, with an overcast sky and calm water. Anglers managed to catch good numbers of quality bream using frozen prawn for bait.
Stan Blackwood displayed his talent for bream-fishing by winning all sections of the Saturday competition with the heaviest bream of 894 grams, the second heaviest and the secret weight.
Chloe Rees won the junior competition, ahead of Kaylee Bell.
Peter Studd won the Sunday competition with his heaviest bream weighing 674g, Carole Clark second and Jeff Pursell secret weight.
Cody Weightman, who is not yet a junior member, also weighed several nice bream, the heaviest weighing 768g.
Following the weigh-in, everyone headed off or squeezed in a bit more fishing.
The next meeting will be on Wednesday 20 April at 7.30pm at the Pakenham Senior Citizens’ rooms. All welcome.
