WHEN I helped local residents circulate a petition about the intersection of Harkaway Road and Ernst Wanke Road last year the response was resounding.
Over 750 people called for something to be done about the safety of the intersection and when Cr Simon Curtis passed the petition to the City of Casey, the council’s own report found that a roundabout would be “the most suitable treatment”.
I have written to the City of Casey’s CEO to ensure that the roundabout is constructed or another appropriate measure is taken. It’s now time for Casey to act.
The intersection had previously been identified in the council’s Grey Spot Straegy and the project was prioritised beyond the five year Capital Works Program.
If the intersection at Harkaway Road and Ernst Wanke Road isn’t included in the Casey’s 2011 budget, local residents will seriously start questioning whether the council is really listening to them.
