A GRADE

Pakenham were looking forward to getting started and playing their neighbours ROC. Pakenham’s new A Grade started well with new player Karyn Bailey being a great target in goals. Toni Dart played a full game in goal attack worked well, giving the centre court options and positive play. Olivia Hunt and Aleisha Taurua combined well in defence with turnovers and rebounds. Pakenham’s centre court worked well driving down the court with good space awareness. Pakenham consistency was challenged in the final quarter. The girls worked hard all day and deserved a 6- goal win.

B GRADE

After much hard work in the preseason, it was great to get the season started. The side welcomed a few new faces to B Grade this year and looks forward to season 2011.
A fast-paced first quarter set the tone for the match. Nicole, Jill and Hayley worked tirelessly in defence, gaining a number of turnovers and applying pressure. Meaghan, Emma, Cassie and Allie created opportunities in the mid court and were all able to adapt when changed into new positions. Bec and Raegan worked hard all game in goals.

C GRADE

A great day for the start of the season with the weather fantastic and the unfurling of last year’s C Grade Premiership Flag.
Unfortunately, Pakenham didn’t succeed in coming away with a win, going down to ROC by 7.
A few new combinations and nerves played a part in this defeat, but not from a lack of endeavour. Pakenham started off slow and ROC were able to capitalise in the first quarter. Passages of play show promising signs for the season. The last quarter was the best with all players working harder and with more confidence, outscoring the oposition 9-8.

UNDER 17s

It was a beautiful day for the first game of the season and the Pakenham U17s were full of enthusiasm. The girls took their energy out onto the court with a great first game. The goalers worked hard from the beginning. Courtney and Gabbie moved well together and their offensive rebounding was fantastic. Imy, Zoe, Bec and Jacqui provided stability through the mid court. They presented well down the court and fought hard in every contest. In the defensive end, Teaghan and Grace were switched on from the start of the game. Their talking and movement was brilliant, which assisted them to create many turnovers. It was a good team effort and the girls were rewarded with their first win for the season.

UNDER 15s

A disappointing start to the Under 15s season against ROC. This new combination of players lacked confidence in their own ability, resulting in a loss.
With plenty to work on at training, plenty of Easter eggs over the break, these girls will come out firing and play to their full potential and produce improved results in future games.

UNDER 13s

The side didn’t win the game, but they won the last quarter. The teamwork for the entire game was outstanding.
