WHEN he died, “all round” good bloke Trevor Lineham bequeathed money to his beloved Pakenham Football Club.
At its opening of the season game on Saturday, the Lions honoured Lineham, who lost his life to leukaemia.
The club added a gymnasium to their change rooms and have named it after Lineham, whose sister, Joy Cooper, officially opened the gym.
A team manager of junior sides, assistant secretary and committeeman, Lineham, who was affectionately known as Dixon, was a “gofer” at the club.
“Trevor did anything to help anybody out, he was a dogsbody, a great bloke loved by all,” club president Greg Marshall said.
“He also was a president of the Pakenham Picnic Racing Club.
“Trevor loved his racing and part-owned a horse called Purple Curse, who won in Melbourne. He was heavily involved in the picnic and bush races. He also loved photography.
“We wanted to do something special with the money he left us.”
Monies towards the gymnasium also came from Pakenham footballers and businesses and was matched dollar for dollar by the Shire of Cardinia.
“This came through a capital works grant,” Toomuc Reserve committee treasurer Steve Moloney said.
“We couldn’t have done it without the financial support of many people,” Moloney said.
