ROC
ROC travelled to Pakenham and recorded wins in four of the six grades. The club’s first social event of the year was held in the clubrooms later that night with a huge number of people turning up for cocktails. In round two ROC plays its first home game against Keysborough.
A GRADE
After a slow start changes made at quarter-time lifted the intensity of the game with more talking and better use of the ball in the second half. Although clearly beaten by height, the team did not give up, winning the last quarter convincingly.
Pakenham 49 d ROC 43
Awards: Beck Roy, Amy Tivendale
B GRADE
This was an excellent first hit-out against quality competition. After a slow start, court work improved consistently. Moving of the ball from centre court to goals was like clockwork by the last quarter with much improved talking. Great defensive pressure caused missed goals and turnovers. The team still has room for improvement, which bodes well for the season ahead.
ROC 51 d Pakenham 34.
Award: Bec Luxford
C GRADE
ROC came out strong and the talk and determination of every player on court paid off with the first win. ROC defenders worked extremely well to shut down Pakenham’s goalers all game. The mid-court didn’t stop running all day and applied pressure to every pass while the gaolers moved well in and around the ring. Great start to the season, beating the reigning premiers.
