Warriors

THE Pakenham Warriors were found wanting in their 33-point loss to the Warrandyte Venom at Cardinia Life on Saturday.
With three new inclusions, the Warriors were hopeful of continuing recent good form.
In the opening five minutes scoring was difficult for both sides, but after that everything went the Venoms’ way as they scored 11 unanswered points to lead 22-5 at the first break. The trend continued for the remainder of the second quarter as Warrandyte piled on 28 points to Pakenham’s 14.
In the second half, the Warriors rallied and were determined to fight the game out to the finish.
With some determination from Craig Drew, the Warriors were able to outscore the Venom 26 to 24 and show the supporters that they would not give in.
But the Venom proved too strong and showed why they are one of the favourites to go all the way in division two.
Best players for the Warriors were Vlad Tankov (15 points 11 boards), Dan Stow (14 points) and Dan Jeavons (seven, 10).
There is no game this week because of Easter. The Warriors take on Westernport, another top four side, on 30 April.
