Battle of the giant killers

By Mark Gullick
THE Berwick-Cranbourne blockbuster headlines an intriguing round two fixture in the Casey Cardinia league.
The Wickers, coming off an impressive first-up win over reigning premiers Narre Warren, face the in-form Cranbourne.
While there are numerous exciting match-ups around the field, interest will centre on Cranbourne’s ability to shut down Berwick’s forward line, which was so potent against the Magpies in the season opener.
It will be another tough test for Berwick, but they will be worthy opponents if they can replicate their early season intensity.
Cranbourne will be relishing a challenge after two effortless wins.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:ROC v KEYSBOROUGH

KEYSBOROUGH travels to ROC for a potential danger game against the youthful Kangaroos.
It will be the first home match for ROC who will be looking to take out the Ian McLean Memorial Shield.
The shield is dedicated to McLean who was deeply involved with the two clubs. Both teams lost in the opening round, but ROC put in the more impressive performance.

The Burra is working a raft of recruits into its team, while the Kangaroos have fully subscribed to its youth policy. Keysborough needs to find another forward option to help out Davor Rajic, who kicked seven of the Burras eight goals in round one.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:HAMPTON PARK v BEACONSFIELD

THE new-look Beaconsfield outfit kicks off its campaign against Hampton Park at Robert Booth Reserve. The Eagles will be hoping that it can fill the breach of its influx of departures with players from its grand final reserves and premiership-winning thirds teams.
Karem Baskaya leads Hampton Park’s forward line and Beaconsfield will have to be mindful of his presence.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:DOVETON v PAKENHAM

DOVETON and Pakenham clashes in the past few years have been physical, intense affairs and this game at Robinson Oval shapes as another rigorous contest. With significant changes to the composition of their line-ups, the Doves and the Lions will take a few weeks to show their best football.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:TOORADIN v DEVON MEADOWS

DEVON Meadows will look to exploit Tooradin for height when the neighbourly rivals clash at Tooradin Rec Reserve.
The Panthers have reaped strong service from big men Adam Brander and Adam Jago but a lack of four-quarter consistency over their two games may open the door for Tooradin. The Seagulls shocked Keysborough in the opening round and with gun forward Matt Davey returning, they should have too much class around the ground.
