COREY Porter, 13, may have claimed the spotlight at Pakenham Golf Club last Saturday (see story page 1 sport) but about 160 players competed in the men’s par event – with Vjarn Du Priez coming in with +6 off a handicap of 26 to win.
The B Grade winner was Zac Clough with +6 (20) and the A Grade went to Tym Davey with +4 (6).
For obvious reasons the nearest the pin on the second hole went to young Corey but Wayne Caffyn took out the fifth hole, Brett Mottrom the eighth, Tym Davey the 14th and the 16th went to Noel Bonne. Second shot on the 16th hole went to Mick McManus.
The longest drives saw Kevin Booker win the A Grade, Grant McCullough the B Grade and Mark Stewart the C Grade.

The trophy went to Ray Coutts with 91 points, with the best two scores counting over two or three rounds.
In pennant Division 1 had another loss, in Division 2 Pakenham played Moe at Drouin and came home with a good win 7/2 and Division 3 travelled to Yallourn to play Garfield and also came home with a win, 6/3.

More than 40 women enjoyed ideal conditions for their stableford event on Thursday 28 April.
Seven new members joined the competition. They ladies participated in the beginners’ clinic recently and were given a warm reception.
The winner of the 18-hole event was Cath Briant with 38 points. The Division 1 winner was Marie Barnbrook with 35 and Division 3 went to Anne Donovan with 38.
NTP winners were Marg Andrews on the second and the 14th holes and Lyn Murray on the 16th hole. The nine-hole winner was Roz King.
DTL winners were Judy Horne and Liz Garvey 36, Norah Gasgard and Wendy Carter 34 and Yvonne Tisdale 33.
The semi-final of the captains’ knockout was played in conjunction with the day’s event. Marg Andrews defeated Kay Jones and Jan Creagh defeated Jenny Bayard.

In the first round of the women’s pennant Division 1 and Division 4 both won their matches.
