Craig makes it count

IT WAS a seven-way countback to decide the winner of Saturday’s monthly medal at the Drouin Golf Club.
There were 112 players in the contest – and Craig Armstrong (14) was the winner with a score of nett 71.
Armstrong also won A Grade – on another countback. This time, he beat Robert Piner and Peter Downward.
Darren Adams and John White were next in A Grade, returning with 72s.
Peter Devries (18) took out B Grade also with a score of 71, on a countback from runners-up Anthony Radcliffe and Barry Cunningham. Richie Thomas also fired a nett 71 to win C Grade from Ray Cropley and Mick Herman, both 72s.
Balls down the line went to 73. Nearest to pins were won by Bob Ross (14th), Michael Santo (17th), Armstrong (19th) and Doug Law (23rd), a pro pin.
Ninety-two players enjoyed a round last Wednesday.
Regular Garfield visitor Stephen Kohut (8) won A Grade with 38 points from Rick Schenk, 37. Shane Dwyer was next with 36. Alec Blackie (18) won B Grade with 41 points on a countback from David Low.
George Shand, Benny Wyatt and Stuart Williams came in with 38s. Brian Maunder (21) won C Grade with 40 from Ian Thomson 38. Balls down the line went to 36. Nearest to pins were Noel Brereton (second), Ray Crook (fifth), Rob Woodward (23rd, pro pin).
Saturday is a stableford event for captains and presidents day.
