Fired up over new works

TYNONG’s fire station has been earmarked as one of 60 locations to receive a financial boost after the Victorian Government anno-unced it will inject $65.8 million into the CFA.
In the coming year, the new funding will see CFA replace or upgrade 60 stations and purchase 101 new fire fighting vehicles and equipment.
The CFA will also have a new fire station built in Tynong.
Tynong’s First Lieutenant and acting Captain, Alan Gorick said the news was exciting. “The new station will also ensure the safe and practical storage of tankers and equipment and the facilities to train members in a suitable environment,” he said.
With specific details on individual projects, cost distribution and commencement times expected to be announced in the near future, Mr Gorick said the Brigade had outgrown its current station and the population had increased around the area.
CFA chief executive Mick Bourke said the investment was a significant one.
“It will help us in our mission to protect lives and property,” Mr Bourke said.
Over the next four years, the Victorian Government has committed to funding works on an additional 190 CFA stations and this will also be undertaken following consultation and based on priority.
