Young, Ryder for show

SIX Central and South Gippsland Affiliated Society members will take part in the Royal Melbourne Show later this year.
Competitors from Pakenham, Lang Lang and Bunyip areas were pitted against 50 other craftsmen and women in events such as knitting, embroidery, sewing, patchwork and crocheting at Korumburra earlier this month.
The winners of the state Rural Ambassador competition were Christine Young from the Pakenham Show and Darcy Ryder was the junior representative.
Both will now go on to compete at another group final, with the winners of that meet to go on to the Royal Melbourne Show.
Representing the Bunyip Show, Kaye Howells won the Senior Fruitcake contest, Kathy Kenmure from the Pakenham Show won best photo in the “life on the land” category and Joan Tradrew – also representing the Pakenham Show – won her crochet contest.
All of these winners will now compete at the Royal Melbourne Show in September.
Mary Sottosanti (Pakenham) and Toni Coutts (Warragul) who claimed second place prizes are not eligible to compete at the Royal Show.
