SKATERS and BMX junk-ies’ should be licking their lips.
One of the biggest extreme sport events will hit John Street when the South Eastern Skate and BMX league competition series comes to town later this month.
The event is aimed at attracting hundreds of skaters and riders from 12 years and up, to perform death defying tricks and stunts at Pakenham’s skate park.
Cardinia Shire Council’s youth recreation officer, Leonie Olsen said the competition was a good opportunity for local young people to show off their abilities, originality and creativity.
“Keen skaters and riders are encouraged to apply,” she said.
“It will be great to see all the tricks produced by locals competing.” The format will see each entrant from each of the age groups try and “wow” the judges in two 45 second-runs.
The scores will be added together – with the greatest difficulty scoring high – and winners of each group will qualify for the final. Thirteen neighbouring municipalities will also host the south east series.
The grand final event will be held at Melbourne’s Riverslide Skate Park on 4 June 2011.
