Plus 10 does it

PETER Lacey and Mick Howsin combined well to win the second round of the four ball par championships at the Garfield Golf Club on Saturday.
With a score of plus 10, they were one point ahead of Shane Male and Gary Scholes, who were followed by Greg Needham/Clinton Smith +9, Rex Turner/Russell Gough +8, Graeme Pargeter/Rob Calderara +8, Ray Johnson/Russell Keay +7 and Mick Adkin/Peter Smith +6.
Nearest the pins were won by Rob Swift (fourth), Malcolm Hirt (eighth), Darren Booth (ninth), Danny La Frantz (11th), Jackson Wade (14th) and Graeme Pretty (16th).
The second shot on the fifth was won by David Thorp and the seventh by Russell Keay.
The women’s winner was Dianne Norton (35) with 39 points and the raffle winner was Clinton Smith.
Thursday was a round of stableford – and the winner with 41 points off a handicap of 31 was Neil Watson from Ian Archer (7) with 41 points. They were followed by Ian Johnson (33) with 39 points.
The nearest the pins were Tony Elliot (eighth), Trevor Burnie (ninth), Peter Lacey (11th) and Russell Meehan (14th).
The Super nine went to Peter Johnson and Neil Watson, both finishing with 22 points.
This week is the quarter-final of the four ball championships and a stableford event for the rest of the field.
The quarter finalists need to contact their opponents to arrange a playing time.
Divisions two and three both had wins of 5/4 at Morwell against Yallourn on Sunday.
